Please join us for the first Stammtisch for 2010. This will be the new permanent home for all Stammtisch events. For those of you who are not familiar with the event, it is a popular social gathering that offers a casual setting for designers to come to relax, meet others in New York City's diverse IDSA community, and chat about design or whatever happens to be on their mind. ![]()

We have a special summer treat in store for NYC's industrial designers. IDSA.NYC has arranged for a free tour of the current Cooper-Hewitt exhibition titled, 'Design for a Living World' on Friday, August 14th at 5:00pm. There are only 20 spots available so be sure to RSVP quickly if you would like to join us. Check in with Victoria Pettit upon arrival on 8/14/09 and please arrive early, the tour will start at 5:00pm sharp. About the Exhibition, Design for a Living World: Ten leading designers have been commissioned to develop new uses for sustainably grown and harvested materials in order to tell a unique story about the life-cycle of materials and the power of conservation and design. The featured designers and places include Yves Behar/Costa Rica; Stephen Burks/Australia; Hella Jongerius/Mexico; Maya Lin/Maine; Christien Meindertsma/Idaho; Isaac Mizrahi/Alaska; Abbott Miller/Bolivia; Ted Muehling/Micronesia; Kate Spade/Bolivia; and Ezri Tarazi/China. On view will be the prototypes, drawings, and finished product created by the designers. The exhibition is co-curated by renowned graphic designer Abbott Miller and Ellen Lupton, curator of contemporary design at Cooper-Hewitt. This is the debut venue in a national tour of the exhibition, organized by The Nature Conservancy. After the tour, we will host Stammtisch in the CooperHewitt private garden. Please join us for cocktails and jazz in the private garden from 6-9pm. Jazz trio Ed Fuqua Group will perform. *Please note there is a museum entrance fee of $15.00*
